Obituary

Wilma "Melinda" Crowe, 84, of Andover, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 25, 1941, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Fred Kasper and Letha Watson-Kasper.

Melinda devoted 35 years to Beechcraft/Raytheon, a career she often recalled with pride. Her commitment to service extended beyond her work; she volunteered as a Candy Striper in her youth and, after retirement, worked as a lunch recess aide at an elementary school, where she formed lasting bonds with the children.

Her courage and selflessness were recognized in a remarkable moment when she saved elementary school children in Augusta, Kansas, by alerting others to a gas leak, ensuring their safety. She was interviewed by the news and hailed as a hero for her bravery.

A proud American patriot, Melinda loved her country and expressed her beliefs with conviction. Above all, she cherished her family. She is survived by her two children, Michael Crowe and Melinda "Mindy" White and her grandchildren: Brittany Seamster, Zane Atkins,   Erika Davis, Krista Byrd  and Amy Forsyth. She also leaves seven great-grandchildren: Bristol and Baylor Seamster, Oliver and Maggie Davis, Chevelle Atkins, and Madison and Collin Forsyth. She also leaves behind three beloved nieces Sherry Elaine Rhoads, Anna Griener and Peggy Akers.

Per her request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas Humane Society in honor of her lifelong love for animals.

Melinda will be remembered for her strength, outspokenness, courage, and the enduring love she gave to her family and all who knew her.
