Wanda Lee Carpenter, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 23rd, 2025, at the age of 86.

Born on August 30th, 1938 in Joplin, Missouri Wanda was the youngest of three children to the late Edwin T. Cook and Mabel L. (DuRall) Cook. Later in her life the family moved to Wichita, KS,  where she met the love of her life Thomas Macy Carpenter Sr. The two were united in marriage on March 28th, 1958.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Carpenter Sr., her sister Shirley Busick and her brother, Edwin T. Cook, Jr.

Wanda lived a life filled with love, kindness, and strength. She touched the hearts of all who knew her with her warm smile, generous spirit, and unwavering faith

Throughout her life, Wanda was known for her dedication to her family, her love of crocheting, bowling with her friends and enjoyed a good night of square dancing. As well as many years of running a bar with her husband Tom and the memories they created there. Her home was always open to those in need, and her kitchen was a place of comfort and laughter.

Wanda's legacy lives on through her children Thomas Carpenter Jr.(Connie) and Daniel Carpenter(Rita), six granddaughters, 14 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and extended family members, who will forever cherish her memory and the lessons she taught them about love, resilience, and compassion.

Visitation for Wanda will be held at Baker Funeral Home, 6100 E Central in Wichita on Wednesday, April 30th from 10:00am-12:00pm. Followed by a graveside service at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Schulte, KS at 1:00pm. Family and friends are welcome to attend.

Wanda's life was a beautiful example of grace and devotion, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
