Virginia Isabel Runyan, 84, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Sunday July 21, 2024, at Lake Point of Augusta surrounded by friends and family.  She was born on April 17, 1940, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Frederick G. Treutle and Helena C. (Crandall) Treutle.

Virginia graduated from high school in Wichita in 1957.  After raising four of her five boys as a stay-at-home mother, she went back to school and earned her degree at Wichita State University, College of Health Professions as a Physician Assistant.  Virginia went on to work for several doctors and health organizations in Wichita and finished her career working part time for an organization that provided health care to underprivileged children before retiring in her seventies.  She enjoyed studying Native American Culture, family trips to the mountains of Colorado where they had many friends and the cruises and trips to the Caribbean.

She married Jerry Lee Runyan on May 31, 1957 and they went on to have five boys.

She was proceeded in death by one son Nevin Dale Runyan the youngest of the five boys. Survivors include husband Jerry Lee Runyan of Wichita, Kansas, sons James F. Runyan of Newcastle, Wyoming, Kenton L. Runyan of Wichita, Kansas, Lance B. Runyan of Wichita, Kansas and Maurice M. Runyan of Flornce, Colorado.  She had 18 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at Baker Funeral Home at 6100 E. Central - Wichita, KS on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
