Vicki Anne Swanson, 73, passed away in Derby, Kansas. She was born on November 18, 1952, in Topeka, Kansas.
She is survived by her husband, John Swanson; her children, Indigo (Christian), Madison, Ashlee, and Monica; her cherished grandchildren, Calhoun, Swayzie, and Karrisa; her great-grandchildren, Andrew and Kaylor; and her beloved basset hounds, Lilah, Charlee, and Malcolm.
Vicki spent many years as a homemaker, raising her children and building a life in the country with her husband, John.
Vicki found her greatest joy in seeing new places and spending time outdoors. She looked forward to every opportunity to travel and get away. Whether it was the quiet beauty of the mountains or a boat drifting across the open waters of a peaceful lake, those moments brought her a sense of freedom and peace. Camping, road trips, and time in nature were some of the places where she felt most at home. She also had a deep love for her dogs and treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren.
Vicki’s life was made up of the places she loved, the people she cared about, and the memories she created along the way. She was a woman with a strong personality, a love for adventure, and a way of doing things that was uniquely her own. She was not perfect, but she was real, and those who knew Vicki will remember the many sides of her that made her who she was. Her memory will live on through the stories shared, the places she loved, her beloved dogs, and the family she leaves behind.
A closed funeral service for family and invited guests will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Greenwood Cemetery Chapel. Burial will immediately follow the service.
Celebration of Vicki’s Life luncheon will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Pavilion 5, Lake Afton. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Vicki are invited to join together to share memories, fellowship, and celebrate the life she lived.
