Steven Brooks Young

It is with loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Steven Brooks Young, who passed away on July 19, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 68. Steven was born on September 12, 1957, in Springfield, Missouri, to Otis Young and Edna Kleier Young.

Steven will be remembered for his hardworking nature, generous spirit, sense of humor, and the joy he brought to others through his music. He loved fixing things, working in the yard, listening to music, and playing his guitar. A talented musician, Steven had the remarkable ability to play his guitar by ear without reading music. He especially enjoyed country music, spending time with family and good friends, watching football, boxing, westerns and NASCAR, and he had a special love for dogs. His wit and stories brought laughter to those around him, while his music created many cherished memories.

Steven is survived by his children, Steven Brooks Jr., and Amber Nicole; his son-in-law, Joe; his grandchildren, Whytne, Alec, and Ethan; his siblings, Jackie Young, Tommy Young, and Judy Smith; and many nieces and nephews, along with other family members and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Edna Young, and his siblings, Bert, Billy, Olen, Gerald, Dorothy, Retha, Martha, Shirley, Sharon Kay, Judy A., Karen Sue, and Linda.

Steven’s generosity, humor, love for his family and friends, and gift for bringing happiness to others through his music will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

Memorial will be held at a later time.

The family would like to thank everyone who has offered their love, support, prayers, and kindness during this time. Steven’s memory will be carried in our hearts forever.
