Steven Jeff Grose, better known simply as Steve, passed away on September 27, 2026, at the age of 62.
Steve was truly one of a kind. He was a father, grandfather, truck driver, Harley rider, guitar player, eagle lover, and, according to anyone who knew him well, an expert-level grump.
Steve had a personality all his own. He could give you a look that said everything without him having to say a word—and sometimes, that was probably for the best. He wasn't always the easiest man to argue with, mostly because he was pretty sure he was right. And if he wasn't right, well... he was still going to let you think about it.
But underneath that grumpy exterior was a man who loved deeply and cared in his own way. He wasn't necessarily the type to sit down and give you a long speech about his feelings. Steve had his own language of love, and sometimes that language sounded a lot like complaining.
Steve spent many years driving semi trucks, making his living on the open road. He knew the highways, the long hours, and probably had a few opinions about other people's driving along the way. When he wasn't behind the wheel of a semi, he loved being on the road on his Harley-Davidson. There was something about the freedom of riding that fit Steve perfectly.
He also loved eagles and had a special appreciation for their strength and independence. And when he wasn't riding or driving, Steve could often be found with his guitar, enjoying one of the things that brought him happiness.
Steve leaves behind his children, Haley Grose, Latasha Turrell-Grose, Kristen Hallowell, Zach Stowell, and Troy Stowell; his former wife, Lois Turrell; and his grandchildren, Noah Turrell, Isabella Dilbeck, and Bryson Marin Vera.
His family will remember him for many things: his love of the open road, his Harley, his guitar, his fascination with eagles, his stories, his stubbornness, and, of course, his legendary ability to be grumpy about just about anything.
But most of all, they will remember that he was Steve. There will never be another quite like him.
He may have left this world without ever fully losing his grumpy streak, but we're pretty sure he's somewhere right now riding a Harley, playing his guitar, watching the eagles fly—and complaining that everyone else is doing it wrong.
The road goes on, Dad.
