Steven Lane Bevan went to Heavenly rest on June 11, 2025. Steve was born in Scott City, KS, on June 28th, 1954, to Vernon and Roxanna (Jenkins) Bevan.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Samantha (Ryan) Cheatum; father; and brother, Starr (Debbie), all of Wichita, KS; and brother-in-law, Roger (Susan) Dickson, of Covington, LA.
Steve is survived by his mother and sisters Susan Dickson of Covington, LA; and Sheri (Pete) Resa of Lenexa, KS. Nephew's of the Bevan family include Eric Dickson, Edmond, OK; Andrew Dickson, Covington, LA; Allen (Karly) Dickson, Houma, LA; Ben (Barbara) Dickson, Lake Charles, LA; Skye (Lindsey) Bevan, Wichita, KS; along with nieces Vanessa Walker, McPherson, KS; and Erin (Jason) Swindler, Andover, KS. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Logan and Charlie Cheatum.
In his early years Steve served in the United States Navy in Helicopter Combat Support Squadron 3 and received the National Defense Services Medal. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering at Wichita State University and worked in aircraft manufacturing in Wichita, KS, among other places across the country. He loved science and history and had a very sensitive and giving soul. At the age of three, he sat on the curb of his home and cried at the church bells playing on Sunday morning.
A graveside service will be held at Bruno Township Cemetery, Andover, KS, on June 28th, his birthday, at 11:00am. Condolences can be sent to Baker Funeral Home, 6100 E Central Ave Suite 203, Wichita, KS 67208.
