Stephen Lyle Koontz, 72, lifelong Wichita resident, passed away 2-9-25 from complications of FTD-frontotemporal dementia, known as Bruce Willis disease.

Steve was born 2-23-52 and attended Wichita public schools, graduating from West High in 1970.  He went on to earn a biology degree from Kansas State University.  He retired from Vulcan Chemicals/Oxy Chem with 30 plus years of service in the quality control lab.

Known as Koontzie to his friends, Steve liked his numerous pets, boating and fishing, KSU football, the Chiefs, the KC Royals, blues music and woodworking.

Survivors include wife, Susan Green, stepson Bobby Green, siblings Sharon Fry (Luke-dec), Kathy Littleton (Jeff), Ken Koontz (Jill), Rick Koontz (Leann), cousin Teresa Koontz Tuchscherer, and their families.

Preceded in death by parents Lyle Koontz and Carolyn Hinds Koontz, aunt and uncle Glen and Mamie Koontz, cousin Greg Koontz, and brother-in-law Luke Fry.
