Stephanie Jean Backus

Stephanie Jean Backus, 53 passed away on September 20, 2026 in Wichita, Kansas.  She was born om October 30, 1972 in Pawnee, Oklahoma.

She is survived by two daughters, Jamie, her spouse Jacob & their two children Myaa and Alek; and Shasta and her son Asher; a sister Brenda: father Freddie and several nieces and nephews. Also Her best friend Chrissy.

Preceded in death her brothers Glenn  and “Allen” and her mother Bert.

For her career she spent most of her life working for Kaw Nation in the casino in various departments over her 25+ years. She then bounced around for a few years until she landed at the city serving meals on wheels where she was at the time of her passing. She loved both jobs and serving her community. She loved to talk, watch her shows and spend time at the casino or with her family. She passed surrounded by family.
