Sherrill Ann Thompson, 71, of Wichita, KS passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025. She was born April 23, 1954, in Wichita, KS, daughter of Frank Hook, Jr. and Maxine Jane (Hayes) Hook.

Sherrill attended school in the Wichita area and helped in the home to love and care for her younger sisters and brothers. She worked several jobs, including at the Peter Pan Ice Cream Store, and later, working at the Stay-Crisp potato chip factory, earned her GED, and moved up as a supervisor in the factory in Wichita. However, her calling was to love and care for others, in which she did with her whole heart.

She married Dorphus Fletcher Thompson on March 4, 1978, who preceded her in death on September 2, 2017, after 39 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Maxine Hook, a nephew Tyler Garrett Breese and her brother-in-law, Jeffery L. Smith.

She is survived by her son, Travis J. Thompson (Vikki) of Wichita, KS, three grandchildren, Elysa Greiner (Matthew), Jacob Thompson, Carter Thompson, and 4 great-grandchildren, Ainsley, Ethan, Cameron, and Hailey Greiner, her brothers Rodney "Rod" (Carolyn) Hook, Randy (Terri) Hook, and Frank "Buddy" (Lezli) Hook, and sisters, Teresa Smith, and Kandie Hook, and along with a host of nieces and nephews, friends, and church family.

For those that knew her, knew her love of the Lord was first in her life. It showed and even strangers saw the Lord in her. She did, to the best of her ability, lived what she believed. She was faithful and loved the Lord through prayer, reading her bible, and service. Her favorite scriptures were Proverbs 3:5-6.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Gospel Assembly Church at 11:00 a.m. The church is located at 4230 N. Oliver, Wichita, KS, and dinner will follow the service. Flowers can be sent to Gospel Assembly Church on June 27.
