Sharon Kay Clark (Weirich) was born June 25, 1939, on a small farm north of Council Grove, KS to Clarence Leroy and Cleo Arlene Craft Weirich.  She left this life and is now with Jesus, on December 7, 2024, at the age of 85.

Sharon was the second child, having an older brother, Delano. After Sharon was born, brother Jim and sister Lucia were born.

Sharon attended Council Grove High School and graduated with the class of 1957.

After graduating from High School, Sharon attended Kansas State Teachers College, now called Emporia State University.  She attended for two years and met the qualifications to be a teacher.  Unfortunately, they changed the qualifications the year she was supposed to graduate and told her she would have to attend two more college years. This created much frustration, so she left school.  She was very proud that, at the age of 57, she went back to school and earned her bachelor's degree from Tabor College in Hillsboro, KS.

In November 1959, she married Eugene Bowman.  From that marriage, three girls were born, Debbie in 1961, Pam in 1962 and Kelly in 1966.

Early in the marriage, Sharon was a stay-at-home mom.    As time went by, she began working part-time jobs outside the home.  One of her favorite part-time jobs was in the fabric department of a local department store, T G & Y.   She especially enjoyed that job, as she was a very accomplished seamstress.   When the girls were little, she would make almost all of their clothing.  She even made them and their dolls matching clothes, which the girls loved.

After the marriage to Eugene ended in 1978, she went to work full-time. Most of her jobs were administrative.    One of her favorite jobs was working as an Administrative Assistant to the President and other administrative staff at Friends University in Wichita. KS.   She also worked for a couple of different attorneys, Energy Reserves Group, and for her final job, she was an Administrative Assistant at the Kansas Corporation Commission.  She ended up having to leave the workforce early in life, due to various health issues.

For many years, one of the things that Sharon especially enjoyed was clowning.  She had her alter ego, Shamrock the clown.  Shamrock the Clown loved going to places like the Wichita River Festival, the St Patrick's Day parade, and anywhere she could make children smile.

Sharon remained single for 9 years, and then in May of 1987 she married the love of her life, Bobbie Joe (B.J.) Clark.   When she met B.J. he introduced Sharon to riding motorcycles.  They spent many years riding bikes and traveling with the Christian Motorcycle Association, Jesus Team.  Sharon and B.J. were actively involved with the Jesus team, and Sharon served as team treasurer and secretary for many years.  They were both sad when their health no longer allowed them to participate and ride motorcycles.

B.J. passed away in July of 2016 from pancreatic cancer.  We know they are happy to be reunited.

In addition to B.J., Sharon was preceded in death by both parents, by her younger siblings, Jim Weirich and Lucia Weirich, her sisters-in-law, Geri Weirich, and Evelyn Austin, and her brothers-in-law, Phil Graybeal & Gene Austin and only a few weeks ago, her son-in-law, Mike Shirkey.

Sharon is survived by her brother, Del Weirich, sisters-in-law, Lynda Graybeal & Sharri Weirich, three daughters, Debbie Shirkey, Pam (Jack) Mitchell, Kelly (Billy) Simmons, Stepson, Steve Clark, her grandchildren, Briawna (Stephen) Hartmann, Austin (Nicole) Callahan, Kalyn (Adrian) Waller, Shawntel Shirkey & fiancé, Jared Evans, Isaac Simmons and Taryn Bowman, and her pride and joy, her two great-grandsons, Noah and Joshua.

She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews, Kim Weirich, Keri (Cody) Wright, Kevin (Katie) Weirich, Steven Weirich, Teresa (Richard) Howard, Lyle (Felecia) Smith-Graybeal, Shelly Young, and their children, Stevie, Sophia, Emma, Katherine, Eliana, Evie, Jack, Sami, Richard, Jr. (Taylor) and Arabella.

And two very special bonus daughters, Amy Voss and Julie Adams.

In addition to the family, Sharon is survived by numerous friends, many who truly became extended family over the years.    We are all going to miss Sharon's smile, her feisty personality, and her awesome hugs.

You are invited to celebrate Sharon's life with us on Wednesday, December 11th at 10:30 am at Westridge Community Church, 7315 W. 13th Street, Wichita, KS  67212.  If you cannot attend in person, the service will be live-streamed on the Westridge Community Church Facebook page.

Instead of flowers, donations may be made to:  Westridge Community Church for the mission to the   Rosebud Native American  Reservation in South Dakota.

After the memorial service, all are welcome to stay for lunch hosted by the church.
