Shari Jean Owens, 60, passed away on October 29, 2025 in Wichita, KS at home surrounded by family. Born on January 21, 1965, in the same city she lived in most of her life, Shari's journey was one marked by compassion, resilience, and deep devotion to those around her.

For many years, Shari served others by cooking anything and everything. She was the one to make something out of nothing and everyone loved it! "Mom Stuff" was always the best!

Later in life, Shari pursued her education at a local community college where she trained to be a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her decision to enter caregiving was a natural extension of her generous spirit- she was truly a caregiver at heart. Whether through her professional work, or her personal life, Shari consistently placed the needs of others before her own.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband Eddie Owens; her mother Linda Vicens; and her Father Lee Garrett. Shari also leaves behind her brothers Andy Garrett (Michelle) and Adam Powell (Shari). Her memory lives on through her children Bradley Van Pelt; Zachary Van Pelt (Stephanie); Casey Van Pelt (Sara); Melissa Baughn (Dustin); and Andrew Williams. Shari's legacy continues through the lives of over 30 grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.

She was preceded in death by her brother Tommy Garrett.

Shari found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved watching Jerry Springer and immersing herself in true crime and paranormal stories. Her love for the 80's classic rock often filled the air around her; creating an atmosphere that reflected both nostalgia and energy. A talented artist, she expressed herself every now and then by creating a masterpiece with oil paints or pencil.

Though she did not attend formal services regularly, Shari maintained a personal relationship with God that guided and comforted her throughout life's challenges.

Her warmth, humor, and unwavering care will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort and peace to those whose lives she touched.
