Shanna Christina
Deneese Hutchens
Jul 17, 1979 — Mar 2, 2026
Wichita
Shanna Christina Deneese Hutchens, 45, of Wichita, Kansas, was born on July 17, 1979, and went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 2, 2026. She was born in Wichita, Kansas, to Susan Lyles and VanLeu Johnson.
Shanna was a beloved daughter, mother, sister, and friend whose life was marked by compassion, creativity, resilience, and an unwavering fighting spirit. She was known for her kind heart and her remarkable ability to see the best in everyone she met. Shanna had a gift for listening without judgment and was always willing to give her time, and even her last dollar, to help someone in need. Her love for others was selfless and genuine, and she made everyone feel seen, heard, and valued. Her greatest joy in life was her son, Martin Richards of Howard, Kansas, whom she loved deeply and unconditionally. Being his mother was one of her proudest and most cherished roles. Shanna's passion for music began at a young age under the mentorship of her stepfather, Gary Tucker of San Antonio, Texas, who nurtured her talents in music and dance. That early foundation became the inspiration for her creative journey and eventually led to the founding of Hutchens Entertainment. Music was the heartbeat of her life. She also had a passion for photography and a remarkable talent for crafts and creativity, always finding ways to turn simple things into something beautiful. Shanna loved animals dearly, especially her beloved pet pig, Pork Chop, who brought her great joy.
She is survived by her son, Martin Richards of Howard, KS, her mother Susan Lyles of Howard, KS, father Van Johnson of Wichita, KS, stepfather Gary Tucker of San Antonio, TX. She leaves behind the love of her life and best friend Darius Edmondson of the home, her brothers Curtis Johnson of Wichita, KS, Nikolis James of Gardner, KS, and Edward Tate of Kansas City, MO; her sisters Leonora Smith of Longton, KS and Andrea Rogers of Melrose, FL and survived by many cherished nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jeremy Hutchens of Wichita, KS.
Shanna was deeply loved by her family and friends. She was a hero and source of strength to her little sister Leonora and a constant encourager to everyone blessed to know her. Though her time here was far too short, the love she gave and the lives she touched will continue to carry her legacy forward. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 3:00 PM at New Salem Baptist Church, 158 N. Madison Ave, Wichita, Kansas 67214. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
