SeDonna Charlene Mason a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 73 on Saturday December 7, 2024. Born to Harold Walter Adams and Mavolyn Lorraine Carter, SeDonna grew up in and around Battle Creek, Michigan. She spent her childhood on a farm in Bedford Township. SeDonna being a lover of animals had a horse named Nashoe who she competed with in horse shows, a cat named Tiny Love, and shared two Shetland ponies with her siblings (Jiggs and Rosie).
Shortly after graduation from Battle Creek Central High School class of 1970, SeDonna met the love of her life, Floyd LaFon Mason, while she was waitressing at the Copper Top Restaurant. After marrying they were always on the move due to Floyd's career as an airplane mechanic. Eventually settling down in the "Air Capital of the World" Wichita, Kansas in the mid to late 70's. SeDonna and Floyd welcomed a baby girl LaDonna Charlotte Mason in 1978. During LaDonna's childhood SeDonna volunteered at her daughters school (Lincoln Elementary) as a teacher and lunch aide. She was also the assistant troop leader of her daughter's girl scout Brownie group. In her free time SeDonna enjoyed yard work, crocheting, drawing, ceramics and other crafts just like her dad.
After SeDonna was widowed she attended Wichita Area VoTech and received a degree in Horticulture. She got her love for flowers from both grandmas, remembering Grandma Carter who had a greenhouse in Bedford. They grew vegetables and flowers to sell, also delivering arrangements for holidays, special occasions, weddings, funeral homes, and cemeteries. After college she worked at Dillons on Central and Rock Road for 28 years as a carry out, in the bakery, produce, deli, and utility clerk. SeDonna enjoyed two years of retirement after all her hard
work, taking trips to Michigan with her daughter to see family.
She is survived by her daughter LaDonna Bass of Wichita, Kansas, her sister Claralyn Smith of Battle Creek, Michigan. nephew David Smith (Melissa), nieces Jessica Holden (John), Mavolyn Ferrall (Lyle), Samantha Titus (Matt) along with many great nieces and nephews and many beloved family members. She is preceded in death by her parents Harold and Mavolyn Adams, her husband Floyd Mason, her brother Robert Adams and sister Juanita Blain. Celebration of life will be on Saturday January 18, 2025 at 1pm at Parkview Southern Baptist Church
