With great sadness, we announce the passing of Ruth Ann Long (Hillhouse) on February 1st, 2024, at 71. She was born on May 27th, 1952, in Dodge City, Ks, to Earl and Ethel (Hubbard) Hillhouse and grew up in southern California. Ruth was a dedicated student who graduated high school in 1970 and furthered her education at Bartlesville Wesleyan College in Oklahoma and Azusa Pacific University in California. She spent most of her professional career at the US Department of Veterans Affairs at the Robert J. Dole VA Regional Office in Wichita, Kansas, and had Federal service with the Department of Defense (Airforce and Navy). She retired from the VA after 31 years of Federal service in 2009.

She leaves behind her son Chris and Liza (Spouse) Scanland; her grandchildren Coby and Kammy (Spouse), Caleb, Addison, and Finleigh; her great-granddaughter Coralynn; her siblings Janet (Hillhouse) and Wayne (Spouse) Sawyer, Arville and Pamela (Spouse) Hillhouse, Paul and Vanessa (Spouse) Hillhouse. Many nieces and nephews and extended family members whom she all loved.

Ruth's life will be celebrated starting with a viewing on February 8th from 5pm – 7pm, at Baker Funeral home in Wichita Ks, with at a funeral service on February 9th at Apostolic Christian Church at 11am (1202 South Lulu Street Wichita, Ks) Her burial will take place at Kechi Cemetery following the service.

Ruth's kind and loving nature touched the lives of so many, and her dedication to her family and faith will always be remembered. Her legacy of compassion and generosity will continue to inspire those who knew her, and she will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives. Love you, Mom.
