Roque B Gonzales

March 25, 1940 – October 29, 2023

Wichita, Kansas – Roque Bernadino Gonzales, age 83, passed away on Sunday, October 29th, 2023.  He is proceeded in death by his parents, George and Susie, and his sister, Alvina.  He is survived by his wife, Rhea, his brother Israel "Ross", and sister, Victoria, 4 children: Margaret, Jeanne, Reggie and Michelle (Brian), 2 grandchildren: Caleb and Elliot, as well as many nephews and nieces.

Roque was born in Pueblo, Colorado, to George and Susie Gonzales and was the third of four children. He joined the Air Force in 1958 after his high school graduation. He was stationed in Alaska until 1963 when he was transferred to McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, KS. He remained there until his discharge in 1964. He valued his time serving his county and was proud to be a United States Air Force veteran. He joined the Coleman company in July of 1965 as a Painter.  During his time there, he trained as a Tool and Die Maker and held that position until his retirement in 2006.  He loved spending time with his family and bragging about his grandchildren. He loved to bowl and joined many leagues over the years, including the PBA. He enjoyed spending time BBQing, playing horseshoes and swimming with friends and family.  He also loved sports, and especially loved to watch KU basketball and his Denver Broncos. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

The rosary and funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 124 North Roosevelt, Wichita, KS 67208 on Thursday, November 9th.  The Rosary will be at 10:30am and the funeral Mass at 11:00.  Reception immediately following in Bishop's Hall.
