On October 7, 2020 Heaven became a more joy-filled place. Robert (Bob) William Harrison peacefully passed at home in Wichita, Kansas. Bob lived 92 adventure-packed years and accumulated almost as many stories as he did friends. Bob grew up in his beloved Wichita, Kansas. He enjoyed spending his younger days lifting weights at Sandy Beach and making friends with everyone on Washington Street. Bob proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon his return, he convinced the love of his life to marry him, and here Bob and Helen began their legacy together. They raised their children in a house full of love and laughter. Hawaii was their heaven-on-earth, and they frequented the islands five times in their marriage. Bob served his community as a plumber and many of the buildings in town have the fingerprints of his handiwork.

Bob was not only a hard worker, but a man gifted with both creativity and brilliance. He made sure to leave his family detailed, hand-written stories about his daring exploits and the fantastic experiences he had. He was an artist, an inventor, a problem-solver, an accidental bank robber, an award-winning canoe champion, a local actor, and so much more. Yet he was probably known best for either his mean harmonica skills or the ability to make people belly laugh. He was the luckiest unlucky man alive, and after falling off of buildings, out of trees, and into septic tanks, we know why he signed much of his work, "El Gato." He was a cat with nine lives! Despite a multitude of narrow-escapes, Bob always had a smile on his face and an attitude of positivity.

There was always joy and laughter in Bob's presence. Those who knew him best, know that his joy came straight from Jesus. He lived his life to honor God and love people, and it was a life well lived. With full confidence, we rejoice knowing that he is now in the presence of God the Father and most likely winning heavenly push-up competitions.

Bob is survived by his forever sweetheart, Helen Harrison, son and partner-in-crime Russell (Bonnie) Harrison, cherished daughter Angie (Don) Maben; adoring grandchildren Cindy Branton, Christin Roberts, Brandon Norris and Dustin Norris; and five great-granddaughters who think he hung the moon; as well as friends and families from around the globe.

Because of this unique time of Covid-19, an intimate family service was held in the Harrison home, reminiscing and giving thanks for a legacy that will carry long into the future. Although no formal services were held, we welcome any and all memories that you shared with Bob or stories of how he touched your life!
