Robert J. Martine, 93, of Wichita, KS, unexpectedly passed from this life on January 9, 2026. Born on February 14, 1932, in Hutchinson to Irene Elizabeth (Komarek) Martine and Charles Joseph Martine, Robert embraced a life of hard work, curiosity, and service. From his earliest days as a paperboy and altar server, he grew into a jack of all trades—and master of nearly all—flying crop-dusters over the plains and later serving as a mechanical engineer at Boeing for over thirty years.  He loved the game of golf, especially playing with his two brothers.

Above all, Robert was proud of his patriotic service. He entered basic training at Fort Riley Army base in Manhattan, KS, and served in the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division from 1949–1953, where he subsequently earned an honorable discharge at the rank of Sergeant First Class. That spirit of dedication carried through the rest of his life.

After his military service, Robert met and married Betty (Teske) Martine. Together they raised two children, Brian and Rhonda, whom he loved deeply and supported wholeheartedly. He delighted in helping Brian achieve his Eagle Scout rank, investing countless hours in mentoring and encouraging him through each requirement. He also cheered Rhonda on from the sidelines—celebrating her athletic achievements—and took great joy in watching her excel and grow into a successful corporate career. His pride in his children was matched only by his steady, uplifting presence and his readiness to help whenever needed.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Irene and Charles; his sisters, Dorothy Graham and Barbara Sanders; and his former spouse, Betty Martine. He is survived by his brothers, Richard (Phyllis) Martine and William (Arlene) Martine; his son, Brian Martine and daughter-in-law, Kendra (Meister) Martine; and his daughter, Rhonda Martine. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his quick wit, craftsmanship, and unwavering commitment to those he loved.

Robert's life was a testament to perseverance, patriotism, and generosity. May his memory inspire us to meet each day with gratitude, courage, and a willingness to lend a hand.

In celebration of Robert's life, a rosary will be held the evening of Thursday, January 29th, 2026, at 6 pm at Church of the Resurrection, 4910 N Woodlawn St, Bel Aire, KS 67220. A reception will follow the rosary at 6:30 pm.

A funeral mass will be held the following day on Friday, January 30th, 2026, at 11 am at Church of the Resurrection, 4910 N Woodlawn St, Bel Aire, KS 67220. A luncheon will follow the funeral services at 12:30 pm.
