Richard Frank
Ores
Sep 5, 1972 — Mar 7, 2025
Wichita
Richard F. Ores, widely known as Ricky, was born on September 5, 1972, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to his biggest fan and cheerleader, Richard F. Ores, and his mother, Jeanie H. Ores, the former owner of Jeanie's Lounge in Grandview Plaza. He passed away on March 7, 2025, in Wichita, KS.
Ricky attended Milford Elementary School before moving on to Junction City Junior High and later graduating from Junction City High School. A year-round athlete, he played football and wrestled throughout his school years. He also had a passion for baseball, playing for both his school and the American Legion. His love for sports continued into adulthood, where he spent many years playing on softball teams in and around Junction City and Manhattan, forming lifelong friendships along the way.
His softball teammates became family, sharing not only the love of the sport but also countless barbecues, cookouts, and celebrations of holidays and birthdays. His friendships were lasting, and he will be remembered as a loyal and cherished friend.
Throughout his life, Ricky worked in various fields, including as an electrician, a driver for a moving company, and in manufacturing. He took pride in his work until health issues made it difficult for him to continue.
Above all, Ricky's greatest joy in life was his son, Andrew Ores. He spoke often and proudly of Andrew's artistic talent, always amazed at the artist he was becoming. Ricky's love extended to his dogs, who adored him just as much.
Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Jeanie. He is survived by his beloved son, Andrew Ores, as well as his siblings: Karen Bowman of Wamego, KS; Ken Ores of Nixa, MO; and Maribeth Gardner of Nixa, MO.
A celebration of Ricky's life will be held at 3:00 PM on April 5, 2025, at Jeanie's Lounge. Please join us as we gather to share memories, laughter, and to honor a man who brought joy to those around him.
