Richard Duane Harris, beloved husband, father and friend passed away at the age of 72 on Friday, March 15, 2024 surrounded by love and family. He was born March 28, 1951 in Manhattan, KS, the son of Ned and Wanda (White) Harris.

Richard graduated from Manhattan High School in 1969. He attended Aeronautics School and later apprenticed as an auto and motorcycle mechanic where he found his passion of his lifelong career. He was a successful business owner of Parts Merchant in Manhattan, KS. He excelled in his field earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.

Richard led a life of adventure filled with love and compassion for his friends and family. He was always willing to help anyone in need and loved to make people laugh. Family always came first and was extremely important to him. He was a devoted husband and father. Outside of work, Richard had a passion for traveling, lake life, and loved to jet-ski. He also enjoyed motorcycle races, swap meets, hobby trains, slot cars, and go-carts.

After his retirement, Richard continued his love of motorcycle repair and restoration in his home shop. He found joy in helping others obtain a fully restored antique or rare motorcycle. No matter the hobby, Richard found joy in every moment and was always looking ahead to the next adventure.

Richard will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity and compassion that will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.

Richard was preceded in death by parents, Ned and Wanda Harris, brother Rusty Harris, sister Shirley O'Neill-Candillo, and son Daniel Winkler.

Survivors include wife Carol Lindsey Harris of 29 years of Wichita, KS, children, Jane (Tim) Piel of Newton, KS, Walter Harris of W.Reading, PA, and Maggie (Tom) Hartmann of Cresco, PA, step children Amy (Shawn) Faust of Westminster, CO and Josh (Amber) Lindsey of Wichita, KS; sister Sandra "Sandy" from Manhattan, KS; 5 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, and 2 step great-grand children.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held on March 30, 2024 at 11 am at College Hill United Methodist Church, 2930 E 1st St. N, Wichita, KS 67214
