Pius Walter Sitati, 78, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on July 6, 2026. He was born on July 13, 1947, in Eldoret, Kenya.
In 1981, Pius came to the United States in pursuit of education and greater opportunities for his family. Through hard work and determination, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Friends University in 1986, an accomplishment that reflected his lifelong belief in the power of education.
Pius was a hardworking and devoted father whose life was defined by his unwavering commitment to his family. Throughout his years working as a janitor for USD 259 and the YMCA, he earned the respect of those around him through his dedication, humility, and strong work ethic.
More than anything, Pius loved his children and family. He worked tirelessly to provide not only for his children in the United States but also for his family overseas, believing deeply in the importance of education and making sure everyone had opportunities to succeed. His generosity, selflessness, and caring heart touched the lives of many.
Pius made it a priority to spend his weekends and days off with his children, creating cherished memories through simple but meaningful outings. Whether taking them to Furr's for a meal or enjoying a movie at the Palace Theater, he showed his love through the time he shared with them. Those moments will be treasured forever.
Pius is survived by his beloved children, Michael Musombi, Shakira Moore, Desirea Moore, and Xavier Louis-McGhee; his 12 cherished grandchildren; and many loving siblings, nephews, nieces, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Pius's legacy lives on in the values he instilled: hard work, sacrifice, love for family, and the belief that helping others succeed is one of life's greatest accomplishments. Though he is no longer with us, his kindness, strength, and devotion will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
