Phyllis Haught, 92, of Wichita, Kansas passed away peacefully surrounded by love on March 23, 2026.She is survived by her children, Marc Haught (Shonda) and Brenda Jones along with her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren who were truly the joy of her life.

Phyllis was born in Winfield, Kansas to Claire and Mabel Graber and later moved to Wichita. It was during her elementary school years that she met Jim Haught who would become the love of her life and devoted husband. The two married shortly after graduating from Wichita High School East and began a life together that would take the across the United States as Jim served in the Army. During her time as a military wife, Phyllis was actively involved in organizing events and supporting the military wives and the community. She carried warmth and dedication to everything that she did.

After first attending college in Independence, KS, she finished her degree at Wichita State University and became an elementary school librarian serving several different schools in USD 259. She had deep love for reading and the places stories could take readers, a passion she shared with the many children whose lives she touched throughout her career.

Phyllis had a deep love for life's simple joys. She enjoyed shopping, golf, ski trips and traveling, creating countless memories along the way. One of her greatest joys was spending time with family, particularly hwen she could take grand children on Thanksgiving vacations and to her favorite destination Disney World. There her sense of fun and adventure did truly shine.

Her grand children and great grand children were the apple of her eye and she rarely missed a practice, game, or school event of theirs, always showing up with pride and unwavering support. She had a gift for making every birthday, holiday and season feel special, often surprising loved ones with special cards and perfectly chosen gifts.

Phyllis was known for her humor, her traditions, and her way of savoring life's moments. She never liked to rush through anything, often saying, "We will worry about that later." She chose instead to fully enjoy the time she had with the people she loved.

Above all, she will be remembered for her love of family, her generous spirit, and lasting impact she made on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

We find comfort in knowing she is now at peace surrounded in heaven by those who loved her deeply and reunited with the love of her life.

A graveside service honoring Phyllis will be held at White Chapel Cemetery on April 17, 2026  at noon. 1806 N Oliver St, Wichita, KS 67208
