Peggy A. Wheeler  July 21, 1937 - November 7, 2023

Peggy was born on July 21, 1937, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Roland Perkins and Maxine Byrd. She found love and companionship with Lee Roy Wheeler Sr., whom she married on November 22, 1956, in Sweet Springs, Missouri. Their journey together took them from Missouri to the West Coast, specifically Los Angeles, where they welcomed their first child, Lee Jr. After some time, they returned to Sweet Springs and expanded their family, welcoming their daughter Mary. Following this they moved to Las Vegas.  Eventually, they settled in Wichita, Kansas, making it their permanent home. There, they had twins, James and Joseph, and also welcomed another child, Michael, who sadly passed away in infancy.

Peggy a former employee of Beech Aircraft. Peggy found immense solace and inspiration in her faith, a devout member of the St. Francis of Assisi community. Her vibrant spirit thrived as she lent her voice to the church choir, harmonizing in songs of praise and sharing her love for music with all who knew her.

Her Sundays were infused with warmth and the rich aromas of home-cooked meals shared amongst friends and family. Peggy's passion for cooking was surpassed only by the joy she found in gathering loved ones around the table, nurturing not just their bodies but their souls with her delectable creations.

A woman of steadfast faith and kindness, Peggy's presence illuminated the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Her wisdom, generosity, and unwavering love will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of her acquaintance.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, husband Lee Roy Wheeler Sr., and sons Baby Michael Wheeler, Joseph Wheeler, James Wheeler, and Vincent "Shawn" Johnson. Survivors Son Lee R. Wheeler Jr., Daughter Mary Correia, Michael Wheeler, (all of Wichita), 22 Grandchildren, 22 Great-grandchildren, and 1 Great Great grandchild, and Honorary daughters Kathryn Johnson, Dianne Swanson, and Amber Endres, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Peggy leaves behind a legacy of love and faith, etched in the hearts of those she touched. In her memory, may we find solace in the joy she brought to our lives and the love she shared with each of us.

The rosary will be 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 16, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (861 N Socora St, Wichita, KS 67212) Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 17, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery
