Patricia "Karlene" (Vogel) Brittain, 87, retired Interior Designer, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.  She was born on January 8, 1938, in Joplin, MO to Carl and Geneva (Leslie) Vogel.  Karlene grew up in Galena, Kansas and graduated from Kansas State Teachers College-Pittsburg where she met her husband, Gerald.   Karlene taught industrial sewing and drapery design at Wichita Area Technical College for many years.  She served for over 30 years as the Wedding Hostess at Hillside Christian Church in Wichita where she orchestrated many weddings.  Karlene enjoyed music, dancing, gardening and baking.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Gerald L. Brittain, her second husband Aaron Mooney, and her brother-in-law George Robert "Bob" Abbott. Karlene is survived by her sister Phyllis Abbott, brother Steve Vogel and sister-in-law Sheryll Vogel. Children Derk (Dorine) Brittain, Brent (Heather) Brittain, Stephen (Miranda) Brittain, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Her celebration of life service will be held at Hillside Christian Church in Wichita on May 10, 2025, at 11:30 A.M.  Her graveside service at G.A.R. cemetery in Miami, OK., on May 10th at 6:00 p.m.  Memorials may be made in Karlene's name to Hillside Christian Church.
