Nancy Jolene Riner, 78, passed away Sunday, September 8th at her residence in Towanda, KS surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her husband Troy Kenneth Riner, Sr.
Nancy was born on February 15th, 1946 in Seminole, Oklahoma. The daughter of Joseph Henry and Nanny Edna (Sproul) Swisher. She graduated from El Dorado High School with the class of 1964. On November 7th, 1964 she married her one true love, Troy Kenneth Riner at the First Baptist Church in El Dorado. They were married for 50 years.
Nancy grew up roller skate dancing, riding horses, and hanging out with all of her family. Later in life, she also enjoyed painting, writing poetry, decorating, helping others, and hunting for antiques with Troy. She became an author and wrote The Black Chanel.
Nancy had an entrepreneural spirit. Throughout her work life, she was a cosmetologist/hair stylist, restauranter, volunteer EMT, and a collector and seller of antiques. Nancy and her husband, Troy were the former owners of the Rusty Bucket Café and Aunt Nancy's Attic in Towanda, Ks.
She was a member of the Towanda Pride Committee, who won awards for her service.
She was Baptized early in life. Nancy was saved and earned her wings.
Survivors include Nancy's children Traci Lynn Riner Lindfors of Towanda, KS; Troy Kenneth Riner II and wife Shawntaigne of Sachse, TX; grandchild Seth Austin Riner; step grandchildren: Tinsley, Taylynn, Makaela, Aften, and Chasity; sisters and brothers; Elizabeth Vosler, Linda & Fred Cooley, Dennis & Kathy Eaton, Lhassa & Mark Gardner, Joe & Lori Eaton, June & Richard Burns and Kenny Eaton; many nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 6-8:30 P.M. Friday, October 11th at the First Baptist Church, 529 N 11th St, Towanda, KS 67144.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to 12 Baskets Ministry in El Dorado, KS in her name. This ministry provides much needed food to those in need.
