Mitchell Lee Messecar

Mitchell Lee Messecar, affectionately known as Mitch, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on September 19, 2026, surrounded by family. He was born on June 2nd, 1969, in Wichita Kansas, the son of Bruce Messecar and Suzanne Horner.

Mitch was a graduate of South High School and went on to work as an aviation inspector for Cessna. He was hardworking, stubborn, funny, and loving, with a personality that was unmistakably his own. He was rarely seen without his extra-large Diet Dr Pepper in hand. Mitch enjoyed riding motorcycles, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, and supporting his Oklahoma Sooners.

Above all, Mitch was incredibly proud of his children. Whenever his children came up in conversation, he would eagerly brag about them and share how proud he was to be their father. No matter what circumstances life brought, his love for his children never wavered. That immeasurable love was a defining part of who he was and will remain an important part of his legacy.

Mitch is survived by his children, Tyler Messecar, Catie Messecar, Whitney (Mike) Weber and Megan Tompkins; his eight grandchildren; and his sister, Kristie Cooper and her husband, Leon Cooper.

He was preceded in death by his mother, who passed away in 2015, and his father, who passed away earlier this year.

Mitch’s life was filled with family, laughter, hard work, and memories that will be cherished for years to come. He will be remembered for his humor, his stubborn spirit, his love of the things that brought him joy, and most of all, the love he carried for his family.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who loved him.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 25th, 2026, at Greenwood Cemetery. Time to be announced at a later date.
