Obituary

Michael Ray Shogren, 77, of Wichita, KS, passed away on March 18th, 2025.

Mike was born on September 28th, 1947 in Wichita to Anton and Faye. He grew up in Wichita and after graduating from West High School he joined the Navy where he became a corpsman. He was stationed with the Marines in Vietnam, where he was wounded twice, earning two Purple Hearts.

Mike was known for his beautiful flower beds and his knack for making virtually any plant thrive. His dream came true in 1993 when his expansive garden made it to the Wichita Garden Tour. He worked in industrial sales for over 30 years and was the guy you called when you couldn't find the part you needed. He could pull a random part number out of thin air and his name was well known in the industry. Mike was known for his sense of humor and his ability to make fun of everything, including himself. Being injured twice in his short military career, he spent the rest of his life battling the effects of a TBI and suffering from PTSD.

He is survived by his wife Deborah, his daughter Jill, his grandchildren Tyler, Milan, Harrison, and Liam, his brother Scott, and many other beloved family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Kris, his sister Donna, and his parents.

As Michael did not want any type of service or funeral, we will have a gathering of friends and family at a future date to be decided.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wichita Animal Action League (WAAL).
