Obituary

Michael Lynn Myers of El Dorado, Kansas passed away on March 25, 2026. He was born on January 17, 1959 to Russell and Belva Myers of Kansas City, Kansas. Mike enlisted in the Marines on 11-2-77 and served his country until 2-20-84. Upon leaving the Marine Corp he and his family moved back to Kansas where he gained employment with Lansing Correction Facility in Leavenworth, Kansas from 1984-1991 when he then moved with family to El Dorado, Kansas to open the new El Dorado Correctional Facility. It was there he made the rank of Captain then retired in 2005. After retirement he gained employment with AJ's of Brickley Enterprises. It was while with Brickley Enterprises he learned of his diagnosis of MS which would cut his career short. Mike is preceded in death by his son Jason MJ Myers of Augusta, Kansas, father and mother Russell and Belva Myers of Shawnee, Kansas, brother Russell Myers the 2nd of Texas, nephew Russell Myers the 3rd of Texas and niece Hillery Myers.

Mike is survived by fiance Tammy L. Miller of El, Dorado, Kansas, brother Kelly Myers of Shawnee, Kansas, daughter Teresa Yergey of Wichita, KS, nephews Garrett Myers of St. Louis, Missouri, Justin Myers of Belton, Missouri, sister in law Penny Myers of Texas, grandsons Gryphon and Jeremiah Yergey of El Dorado, Kansas, granddaughter Gabrielle Yergey of El Dorado, Kansa, great granddaughter Ariana Phillips and great grandson Grayson Phillips.

Mike enjoyed watching the KC Chiefs play, Nascar racing and his pets. He loved his family and had a love of music, especially old time ballads like Jim Croce, The Who, and Johnny Cash. Mike met Tammy Miller later on in life but his love and respect for her was beyond measure. Tammy remained at his side until our Lord called him Home, they were truly a blessing to each other. Now he walks with his son in Heaven. Forever missed and loved.

There will be a celebration of life for Mike on Saturday April 18th, 2026 at the Church of the Nazarene 202 N Taylor El Dorado, Kansas 67042.
