Michael Hans Brandt, friend, brother, father, dog father, died unexpectedly Thursday, October 17, 2024, in Wichita, Kansas.
Michael was a lover of all animals, rock music and horror movies. He was an avid musician, and truly loved the artistry of playing the bass guitar. He was quite humorous and had some of the best stories of his life experiences. He was fascinated by all things historical, especially involving WW2.
Michael was in the Navy and sailed on the USS Nimitz for years. He got to travel the world from Africa to Europe, and eventually made his way home to Minnesota.
He eventually made his way to AZ, where he resided from the early 90s on to 2024. He was a computer IT administrator and did international shipping. He lived a quiet life with his daughter and dogs. He had a few close friends and family whom he was a great friend, and brother to.
He was preceded in death by his children Christian and Heidi Brandt, and his beloved dog Josie. He was also preceded in death by his mother Bonnie Buchholz, his father Felix Szleszinski, and his stepmother Mae Szleszinski.
Survivors include daughter, Kirsten Brandt of KS; brother, Mark Szleszinski of AZ; sister, Marie Szleszinski of FL, his 2 dogs Sophie and Penelope; and the dozens of birds he tended for in AZ.
He was loved by friends, family, and all the critters he encountered. He will truly be missed.
Michael will be buried Friday, October 25, 2024, at 1:00pm at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield, Kansas. The address is 1208 N. College St., Winfield, KS 67156. There will be no service, but friends and family are welcome.
