Merrick Kalen Hedlund, 25, of Wichita KS, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024 at St. Joseph hospital following a brief illness. He was born January 8, 1999, in Memphis, TN, the son of Jason and Georgia (Scott) Hedlund.

Merrick graduated high school in 2017 in Helendale, CA. After moving to Fort Worth with his family he worked at McDonalds, FedEx, Cabela's, and Walmart Warehouse.  After moving with his family again to Wichita, KS, he worked at Walmart Supercenter. He attended Wichita State Tech in the fall of 2022 and earned his certificate in welding. He subsequently worked at JR Customs.

Merrick was a member of North Fort Worth Baptist Church and was currently attending NewSpring Church in Wichita.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Hugh and Eugenia Scott, and his paternal grandfather, Lloyd Hedlund.

Survivors include his parents Jason and Georgia Hedlund of Wichita; siblings Miranda Hayes of Virginia Beach, VA, Keaghan Hedlund of Springfield, MO, Keleigh Hedlund of Wichita, Koulter Hedlund of Fort Liberty, NC, and Kiernan Hedlund of Wichita.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 22, 2024 at NewSpring Church, Wichita, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or CURE International in his name.
