Melanie Carol Olsen was born June 1, 1966 in West Covina, California. Melanie gained her wings peacefully at home with Faith Hospice Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

Melanie attended elementary school back east and in California. She and her family moved to Salina, Kansas in January of 1977. Melanie graduated from Salina South High School in 1984. After graduating high school, she lived in McPherson for about a year before moving to Wichita, which she called home until her passing. Melanie had many struggles in life, but she usually always had a smile and a hug for friends and "family" in Wichita as well as her real family.

Melanie was always exceptionally proud of her nephew Logan and niece Nicole and never ended a phone call to her family without telling them that she loved them. Melanie had a very special friend Robert, who stayed at her side until her last breath.

Melanie was proceeded in death by her mom Nancy, stepdad George, stepmom Iris and all of her grandparents. She is survived by father Don Olsen of Inman KS, her sister Shelley (Dan, Logan, Nicole) Miller of McPherson KS, Libby Bartlet of Overland Park KS, and Maggie Bartlet (William Kisamo, Andrey and Sia) of Milwaukee WI. Kathy and Steve Heglin and Kevin Ferguson all of California and Robert Llams Wichita, Melanie's special friend.

Memorial contributions may be written to Shelley Miller c/o MKCU, PO Box 608, Moundridge, KS 67107 with Melanie Olsen memorial in the memo line. Contributions will be used to offset funeral expenses. Cremation has taken place a private service for Melanie will be held at a later date.
