Matthew Jon Roe, 59, passed away on December 18 at his home in Wichita. He was born on November 20, 1964, in Pittsburgh, KS and three days later was lovingly adopted by Jon and Myrne Roe of Wichita. Matt faced unique challenges from birth as his birth mother's illness during pregnancy resulted in him being born with a severe hearing loss. Despite this, he developed remarkable resilience and quickly learned to adapt by reading lips. From a young age, Matt displayed exceptional intelligence. He was an avid reader with an insatiable thirst for knowledge.

After  graduating from Wichita Southeast High School in 1982, Matt continued his education at Wichita State University and later earned an Associates Degree in Technical Science from Butler Community College. Throughout his academic journey, he continued to fuel his passion for
learning.

Matt was an avid gamer. He found joy in connecting with friends who shared his gaming passion and would regularly come together through online gaming ventures, even as they moved to different parts of the country and Europe. He was also a devoted book collector; with dreams of one day operating his own used bookstore—a dream fueled by his love for literature and the written word.

A dedicated citizen, Matt took pride in his civic duty and never missed an opportunity to vote. He actively engaged with the community through volunteer work and was an unwavering blood donor. Additionally, he was a lifelong Freemason, embodying the values of brotherhood and service. Professionally, Matt excelled as a machinist and worked at various machine shops throughout his career. His skill, precision, and commitment to excellence set him apart in his field most recently with Axis Group.

Matt was preceded in death by his father, Jon Roe, as well as his maternal grandparents R.D. and Ivah Richards, and paternal grandparents Vinten and Doris Roe. He is survived by his mother, Myrne Roe of Wichita, his aunt Jane Hicks (Al) of Cumming, GA, and his cousins Jason D
Boles (Carissa) of Alphartta, GA, Debby Tornabene (Paul) of Castle Rock, CO, and Beth Girardot of Highlands Ranch, CO.
