Mary E. Hanks, age 90, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas. Born on October 10, 1934, Mary dedicated her life to caring for others—both professionally and personally—with unwavering compassion and kindness.

Mary pursued her passion for nursing at the Kansas School of Nursing, which led to a distinguished 42-year career as a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Francis Hospital. Her tireless commitment to healthcare and her naturally nurturing spirit touched the lives of countless patients and colleagues, leaving a legacy of care, compassion, and professionalism.

Outside of her medical career, Mary was an active member of her community and a devoted congregant of North Heights Christian Church. She found joy and purpose in Bible study, church activities, and sharing her love of baking with those around her—always giving from the heart.

Mary was a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her loving children: daughters Cheryl, Lauren, and Jodi; sons Brian, Robert, Thomas, and Jay; and a large extended family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Hanks, and her parents, Nellie and John Henry Alexander.

A service to celebrate Mary's remarkable life will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Baker Funeral Home, located at 6100 E Central Ste 203, Wichita, Kansas.

Mary E. Hanks will be remembered for her selfless dedication, faith, and love for her family and community. Her legacy of service and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know her.
