Obituary

Mary Forfang passed away very peacefully at the age of 100, on Wednesday, August 27th, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas.  Mary was born in Caribou Township on January 16, 1925, to Walter and Julia Boroski.  She was the 4th of 9 children.  Mary attended school in Caribou.  She married Gordon Forfang on November 16, 1949, and they lived on the family farm for 70+ years.  They had 3 children; Carol Marie, Kathleen Fay and Curtis Gordon.  The family attended Two River Lutheran Church until it closed in 1971.

Mary was a very strong woman who worked extremely hard all her life.  There were cattle to tend to, meals to prepare and lunches to take out to the field during planting and harvest.  But what she loved most was being outside with all her flowers, of which there were many.  Friends would drive over just to see her beautiful flowers.  And of course there was the vegetable garden as well.  In addition to all the canning and freezing, Mary also worked at the Kittson County Nursing Home for over 25 years.

Mary relocated to Wichita to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Mark Woodman, in September of 2022.  In June of 2024 she was moved into a lovely Comfort Care Home where she was loved and well cared for.

Mary will be interned in the Bethlehem Cemetery along side her husband and daughter, Carol. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, September 27th, at the Two River Lutheran Church in Lake Bronson at 2:30 pm.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Kittson County Historical Museum 332 E Main, Lake Bronson, MN  56734.  All funds will be used for maintenance of the Two River Lutheran Church.
