Mary A. Dyche, age 94, passed away on Dec. 30, 2024 at Brookdale of Derby, KS.  She was born December 25, 1930 outside of Nevada, Missouri, daughter of Uriah W. and Hazel (Burnsworth) Short.  Mary's siblings were Theresa H. Bisterfeldt, Daniel K. Short, Margaret L. Medlam, and Sallie A. Short who all preceded her in death.

On June 4,1949, in Pratt, Mary married James Robert (Jim) Dyche from outside Cunningham, KS  They were married for 69+ years until Jim preceded her in death on February 9, 2019.  Mary worked many years in retail in Pratt for A.L. Duckwalls, Western Auto and Skaggs Ace Hardware.

Mary lived in Pratt for more than 70 years of her life and was heavily involved in the Medicine Lodge and Pratt Assembly of God Church (now known as Reach Church).  During her life, she taught children's Sunday School classes, led worship, participated in plays and cantatas, and taught adult Sunday School classes.  Mary was a licensed minister for the Kansas district of the Assemblies of God.  She took great joy in helping pastors of smaller churches in the area to take vacations or step aside during health or family emergencies.  She simply loved sharing her Jesus.

Mary was blessed with 3 sons, James R. (Debbie) Dyche Jr., Wichita, KS, William E. Dyche (1954-1955) and David L. Dyche, Pratt, KS.; 4 grandchildren, Krisha (Lee) Gigout, James R. (Jocelyn) Dyche III, Shauna (Mark) Brown, and David J. Dyche; 7 great-grandchildren, Blake (Shelby) Gigout, Alexandria Dyche, Mikayla Gigout, Nathan (Emily) Gigout, Brayden Brown, Ashlyn Gigout, and Ena Raymond-Dyche; and 1 great-great-grandchild, Olivia Gigout.

Mary's funeral service will be at 11am Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Reach Church, 1000 E 6th St, Pratt, KS with Pastor JD Washington presiding.  Interment will follow at Maude Cemetery, Cunningham, KS. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Reach Church.
