Mark Royal Amott passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the age of 72 in Wichita, Kansas, at Life Care Center of Andover. He fought a long and courageous battle against Frontal Temporal Dementia with grace.

Mark was born on March 11, 1952, in Mission, Kansas, the son of Marcus and Judy (Springs) Amott. His childhood in Kansas City instilled in him a lifelong love for the University of Kansas and the Kansas City Royals.

He graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1970 and went on to attend the University of Kansas, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1974. Mark began his career as a teacher in the Blue Valley School District, where he taught for five years before transitioning into retail management. He held positions at Shepler's Western Store, the Florsheim Shoe Company, and Vanderbilt's Clothing Store. He later found fulfillment working at the Wichita Art Museum, where his passion for the arts thrived.

On August 4, 1984, Mark married Pamela Jean Williams in Holland, Michigan. Together, they made their home in Wichita, where they raised their two sons, Seth and Daniel. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marcus and Jewell Amott. He is survived by his sons, Seth Amott of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Daniel Amott of Charleston, South Carolina, as well as his former wife, Pam Amott, of Wichita, Kansas.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Serene Hospice for their compassion and care during Mark's final year. Many individuals in the various Assisted Living and Memory Care facilities also provided Mark with loving care and respect throughout his decline from dementia.

No services are planned, and the family will scatter his ashes at a later date.
