Marilyn Kay Powell, 77, of Derby, KS, passed away Monday December 8th at her home surrounded by family. She was born May 4, 1948, in Winfield, KS, to Odra and Barbara (Priest) Gardner.

Marilyn graduated from Winfield High School in 1966.

She was a Manager of the Cafeteria at Rose Hill School for 30 years, where she retired in 2010. She was a member of the Rose Hill First Baptist Church. She and her husband Charles received the Frank Patton Award for their volunteering in the Gold Wing Road Riders Association in September 2007.

She married Charles Arthur Powell on June 14, 1966. She was preceded in death by her parents, Odra and Barbara Gardner and sister Carolyn Foster.

Survivors include Husband Charles A. Powell (Derby), son Randy (Cheryl) Powell of Wichita, daughter Cheryl (James) Burnham Oklahoma City, OK; 7 grandchildren Dustin (Jennifer) Chapman, Ryan (Misty) Goodman, Kaylee (Jonathan) Oleksy, Katherine Goodman, Joseph Powell, David (Hannah) Burnham, Shelby (Stephen) Hartman and 7 great grandchildren Gage Chapman, Abigail Chapman, Lily Chapman, Alice Oleksy, Adelaide Fedorow-Burnham, Phinehas Hartman, and Robert Hartman.
