TORONTO, KS - Marilyn Ann Jones, 70, passed away peacefully at her home on September 18, 2024. She was born on December 5, 1953, to Art and Lona (Monger) Dawes.
Marilyn served her community faithfully as the City Clerk of Toronto for 10 years. On December 31, 1994, she married Herrold Babe Jones, who preceded her in death on July 5, 2014. Their blended family brought her immense joy and countless memories.
Marilyn had a heart of gold and an infectious smile that could brighten any room. She treasured time spent with her family, always trying to make her children and grandchildren laugh. In her leisure time, she enjoyed watching cooking videos on Facebook, old westerns on TV, and
playing Words with Friends and Phase 10.
She is survived by her children: Melissa Miller of Burlingame, KS; Cherie (Mark) Engels of Derby, KS; Shane Chandler of Toronto, KS; Carla (Clint) Ogle of Felt, OK; Matthew (Shirl) Jones of Divide, OK; and Shayla Langley of Little Elm, TX; daughter-in-law Kelly Chandler of Pretty Prairie, KS; siblings Clifford (Evelyn) Dawes and Robin Ryder (Eric Zimmerman); 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Art Dawes and Lona (Monger) Jones; her beloved husband, Herrold Babe Jones; and her daughter, Shannan Ann Hensley.
A luncheon will be held in Marilyn's honor on October 12, 2024, at the Toronto Senior Center at noon, followed by a graveside service at Neal Cemetery at 2 pm.
Her legacy lives on through the love she shared with her extensive family and the impact she made on her community.
