Lucy Teretha Izzard was born October 7, 1937 in Winston-Salem, NC. She was the only child of Georgie Mae Huntley and John Huntley. Lucy lost her mother at three months old and was raised by her grandmother. Lucy graduated from Carver High School in 1954 and also took courses at WSU in Wichita, Kansas.  She was ready for the world. Lucy was also a faithful member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church singing in the choir. In 1957 Lucy married Leander Izzard, who was enlisted in the United States Air Force, which moved her to many Bases. After moving to Wichita, KS, Lucy became employed with KG&E, an electric utility company. She also became a member at Strangers Rest Baptist Church and joined the choir there. They both retired in Wichita, KS and moved back to Winston-Salem, NC.

On November 14, 2024 she transitioned from her life on Earth to go to her Heavenly home.

In the 87 years of life on earth, she leaves to cherish dear memories, one son, Leander Bernard Izzard, Jr; Daughter, Deborah Elaine Izzard Berry; daughter-in-law Karon Izzard; son-in-law Jeffrey Berry; 10 Grandchildren - Carissa, Dallas, Isis, Aramis, Sandte, Tremayne, Desmond, Columbus, Michael, and Jeffrey Jr.; 12 Great-Grandchildren - Jalen, Adrain Jr., Jovon, Alica, Ameer, Yusef, Shelly, Aisha, Jarbar, Abbey, Lillie, Aleiah; 2 Great-Great Grandchildren -  Ailani and Blaze; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and beloved friends.
