Laura Faye Stalnaker

Laura “Nano” Faye Stalnaker, 84, of Wichita, KS passed away peacefully on Thursday October 15, 2026 surrounded by multiple generations of family. Laura Faye Gill was born on April 30, 1942 in Stapleton, NE to Harold Vincent and Hilda Clara (Suckstorf) Gill.

Laura attended Stapleton High School where she played the trombone in the Marching Band and was a member of the school Glee Club.

Laura married Courtland Eugene Stalnaker on September 6, 1958 in Callaway, NE. Laura was head over heels in love with Court and she was so proud that he always pumped her gas!

Laura and Court had three boys, Kevin (1959), Kyle (1961) and Kipper (1963). As if a houseful of 3 boys wasn't enough, in 1963, Laura's youngest sibling Danny (age 9), joined the family.

For many decades, the young family made their home in Wichita, KS. Laura, Court, and the boys were heavily involved with Boy Scouts. Laura served as a Den Mother to many Cub Scouts for several years prior to working in the Boy Scout Office in later years.

Laura was also an avid sports fan, especially of her beloved Wichita State Shockers basketball, Nebraska Cornhuskers football, Kansas Jayhawks basketball, and of course…the Chiefs!

Laura became the heart of all of the many family, friends and co-workers that were fortunate enough to have her in their lives.

Laura is the true definition of love. Her smile melted hearts. She valued family and friends and friends were like family! She always had time to talk & visit. She opened her home and dining table to everyone and loved very deeply! She especially delighted in her many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory are Son, Kyle Stalnaker of Wichita, KS. Grandchildren: Heather (Toby) Hunt of Leawood, KS, Courtney (Joey) Stalnaker of Bayfield, CO, Cameron (Morley) Stalnaker of Wichita, KS, Hillary (Preston) Skinner of Wichita, KS, Chase (Makenna) Stalnaker of McPherson, KS, Kyler Stalnaker of Wichita, KS, McKenzie Stalnaker of McPherson, KS, Kelby (Clayton) Blubaugh of Wichita, KS. Great-Grandchildren: Emma, Sophia, Tatum, Hope, Chain, Brooks, Kreed and Kaine. Siblings: Mary (Steve) Claycomb of Lakewood, CO; and Daniel (Susie) Gill of Round Rock, TX, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Court; sons, Kevin Stalnaker and Kipper Stalnaker; siblings, Donald Gill, Lila Little, Carl Gill, Larry Gill, Lloyd “Bud” Gill and Lois Musgrave.

A celebration of life in Laura’s honor will be held on November 7th from 1-3pm at 1330 E 1st St N in Wichita.
