Obituary

Kenneth Stewart, a beloved husband, father and brother, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, in St Francis Hospital, Wichita, KS with loving wife, Donna, near his bedside.

Born on March 30, 1948 in San Diego, California, Kenneth was the son of David Shepherd Stewart and Carmen Cita Chaffers. Growing up in a large and lively household, he was the second oldest of ten children, a role that shaped his lifelong devotion to family.

He attended Stockton Elementary School, Memorial Middle School and San Diego High School. Kenneth was a standout athlete in his youth, spending many seasons on the football field. While he possessed a competitive spirit, he also had a deep appreciation for the arts-specifically the soulful rhythms of James Brown, whose music was his absolute favorite. Kenneth worked as a school custodian soon after high school and various other jobs to support his family.

In his later years, Kenneth found profound peace and community when he joined the Holy Temple COGC church in Wichita, KS.

Kenneth's heart belonged to his family. On November 21, 1986, he was united in marriage to his devoted wife, Donna. Together, they built a life filled with shared memories and love. A father of five, Kenneth took great pride in his children, leaving behind a legacy of strength, resilience, and faith.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna; his three children: Dovan Stewart, Nichole Stewart and Mary Stewart; step-son Bernard Edward Russell; his brothers Gary Stewart and Brian Keith Earl. He was preceded in death by his parents, his children: Courtland Stewart and Kenneth Stewart; step-son Raymond Lee Russell; and his siblings: Sharon Martin, Michael Hayes, Karen Hayes, Gregory Stewart, Kimberly Earl and Dianne Earl..
