Obituary

Keith Alexander Jones passed away on April 1, 2025 after his battle with esophagus cancer.  It is a blessing to know Keith is no longer in pain.

He was born on June 11, 1959 in Wichita, Kansas, the middle child to Lee and Althea Jones. They moved to Chicago, Illinois and eventually returned to Wichita, where he spent most of his childhood.

Keith graduated from North High and then attended Wichita State University.  While attending WSU, he played baseball under Coach Gene Stephenson, whom he continued to stay in contact with through the years.  He truly valued his friendship.  He was given the nickname "Spider."  He was drafted as an outfielder by the New York Mets in 1980, but was then traded to the Tulsa Drillers out of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Keith and Connie met in 1987 at the ball field and eventually married in 1993.  From that union came two children - sons, Lee P.I. Jones and Andrew E. Jones.  Keith was a loving father and enjoyed taking his sons fishing and of court to the ball field.  Keith and Connie both enjoyed listening to jazz and watching Turner classic movies.  Keith's favorites were Randolph Scott movies and Humphrey Bogart.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lee R. Jones and Althea R. Wagner-Jones.  Survivors include his wife, Connie R. Andrews-Jones; sons Lee P.I Jones and Andrew E. Jones; brother, Jeffery Jones; sister, Gernice Jones-Cook of Wichita; and niece Katasha Jones of Wichita.

A memorial service will be held at Baker Funeral Home - 6100 E. Central - Wichita, KS on Friday, April 25 at 10:30 a.m.
