Kay Marie
Boor
Aug 9, 1950 — Mar 4, 2026
Derby
Kay Marie Boor, 75, of Derby, KS, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 4th, 2026 surrounded by family. She was born as a twin to Carl and Mary (Miller) Boor on August 9th, 1950, in Wichita, KS.
Kay graduated from Derby High School in 1968. She attended Wichita State University and went on to have a long career in the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1995. Retirement saw her working at True Value and relishing in many hobbies.
Kay was a devoted grand daughter, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, aunt to 20 nieces and nephews, a true friend to many, a prayer warrior, and a lover of animals. Kay's personality was one of humility, kindness, mercy and she spoke up for injustices. Kay made everyone feel seen, heard, accepted and understood. She enjoyed talk radio, music, her favorite TV shows, and studying the Bible. Kay delighted in being in nature. On nice days you could find her exploring, camping, fishing, caring for animals or bird watching. Thanksgiving was not Thanksgiving without Kay's deviled eggs.
Kay's life was marked both by tragedy and triumph. Kay's life began with life saving surgery to correct a birth defect. At the age of 13, Kay lost beloved sister Shirley in a tragic car accident, leaving herself and sisters with numerous injuries and broken bones. Two more major accidents came with hard fought rehabilitation. She surrendered her life to Jesus and was delivered from addictions, given victory over sin and death, and because of her enduring faith through it all- we have peace.
Kay was preceded in death by her grandparents; Walter and Lourene (Peak) Miller, Otis and Annie (Daron) Boor; her parents; Carl and Mary (Miller) Boor; her sisters; Shirley Boor and Theresa (Boor) Blagg; and her brothers (Boor) twins, and Carl Boor Jr; 6 uncles and 3 aunts; brothers-in-law John Riker, Bob Smith, Patrick Hoefer, Ben Fent and Charles Bell; niece Helen (Boor) Short and nephews Roy Gabbard and Otis Boor; nephews-in-law Ricky Boggs, Roger Fournier, and Jeffery Daniels; great nieces London Church, Amelia Pratt, and great nephew Jordan Gunter.
She is survived by beloved twin sister Kathy Bell; sisters Ginny Boor, and Carla Hoefer; 17 nieces and nephews; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
