Karen Kay (Koenke) Cooper, 82, of Wichita, KS, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2026. She was born July 15, 1943, in Wichita, KS, the adopted daughter of Hank and Violet (Long) Koenke.
Karen worked for Boeing and Spirit AeroSystems, retiring in 2008. In 2009, she became a school bus aide for First Student. She volunteered at the Rescue Mission, Wesley Hospital, and West Side Baptist Church feeding the homeless. She was a member of Meridian Avenue Baptist Church in Wichita.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hank and Violet Koenke, and her cousins, Verlene Koenke and Syble Long.
She is survived by her children, Robert Allen Cooper and Tracy L. Cooper; grandchildren, Hayden Cooper, Landon Cooper, Jerod Cooper, and Rebecca Green; great-grandchildren, Brecken Cooper, Campbell Cooper, Everett Cooper, and Hallie Cooper; and her loving cat, Smokey.
Karen requested to have no funeral services. The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in her name.
