Joyce Hughes-Hoge, born April 16, 1944, in Neodesha, Kansas, passed away on September 10, 2025, in Lindsborg, Kansas.

Joyce lived a life full of love, laughter, and music. A devoted fan of bluegrass, she especially cherished her time at the Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival, where her spirit came alive in the sound of strings and song. At home, she found joy in the quiet beauty of her gardens and the simple pleasure of bird watching.

She loved nothing more than quality time with her husband, Thomas Hoge, and treasured making memories with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Professionally, Joyce was a respected sales manager at Bob Bergkamp Construction, where she spent many years building lasting relationships and was known for her sharp wit and her spunky, sarcastic humor.

Though a stroke stole her voice and ability to walk, Joyce never lost her spark. She continued to express herself with her trademark spirit, spunk, and sarcasm—reminding everyone that her voice was far more than words.Those who knew Joyce will remember her vivacious spirit that lit up a room. Joyce leaves behind a legacy of resilience and strength, showing us that a truly free spirit can never be broken. Her spirit will live on through the melody of the sounds of nature and music.

Other survivors include her children; Greg Mohr, Rendy Catlett, grandchildren; Rachel Cochran, Samantha Catlett; four great grandchildren, Avery Cochran, Vince Cochran, Ember Dennison, Alivia Dennison.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Hoge; her parents, Nadine and Irby 'Bud' Hughes; and her siblings, Walter Hughes and Jai McWilliams.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
