Jon Lyman Walstrom, 83, died Monday, October 6, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas. He was born to Maurice and Rudy (Hertha) Walstrom in Lake City, Minnesota, on February 17, 1942. After Jon graduated from Lake City High School, he attended the University of Minnesota, where he earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in geography. After attending library school, he assumed the position of Curator of Maps at the Minnesota Historical Society. After Jon retired, in 1998, he moved to Wichita, Kansas, to join his partner and wife of 43 years, Patricia L. Dooley.

Jon is further survived by daughter Sarah; grandchildren Ashley, Patrick [with partner Meredith], and Aaron [with partner Miranda]; and great grandson Micah [born to Aaron and Miranda).

He was an avid collector of art, maps and books, and enjoyed camping and canoeing.
