Mathews, JoAnn (Johnson)

Age 91, born March 9, 1933, at the family farm just south of Hargrave, KS. Completed primary school at the one room schoolhouse just south of the farm. Graduated from La Crosse High School in 1951. Graduated from Colorado Woman's College in 1953. Graduated from Fort Hays Kansas State College in 1955 with a BS in Business Administration. Married Dr. Dee B. Mathews 27 July 1955, who preceded her in death in 2013. Taught high school business classes in Kansas City prior to becoming a mother and homemaker. An avid arts and crafts aficionado, she loved to paint, carve, and create decorative art.

She was preceded in death by her father Cecil Johnson and mother Bessie Johnson. Survived by her sister Ida Mae (Johnson) Long, son John Mark Mathews, daughter Julie Michelle Hinshaw, son Darrin Bruce Mathews, granddaughters Melanie Lorance, Jaynie Lorance, Marlena Mathews, Tessa Hinshaw, grandson Chauncy Hinshaw and two great grandchildren.

A private family graveside service is planned for a future date. In leu of cards and flowers please make donations to your local animal shelter or the charity of your choice.
