Jimmie "Jim" R. Bartel, 72, of Wichita, KS, passed away March 8th, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. He was born December 21, 1951, in Wichita, KS, the son of Albert W. and Hilda "Maxine" (Barleen) Bartel.

In his professional life, Jim embraced the call of the open road, finding his passion behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler. Over the years, his career as a long-haul truck driver took him on many journeys as he enjoyed the freedom of the open road and quiet moments while he watched the world pass by.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, including his brother Robert Bartel and sister Pam Lipscomb, as well as his beloved daughter, Christine Bartel. Though their physical presence is no longer with us, their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved them.

Survivors include son, Jason (Kirsten) Bartel; daughter Melissa Bartel; sister Patricia (Wayne) Walters, brother David (Miki) Bartel. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He will be missed by his family, friends, and all who cared for him including his companion, Sheryl.

Although he may have reached the end of his journey, his spirit will forever travel the open road watching the beauty of the everchanging scenery, finding peace and solitude.

The funeral will be a private ceremony with only close family members present.
