Jimmy (Jim) Joe Beer, 83, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on Monday, July 29th, 2024. He was born on October 31st, 1940, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Howard and Elizabeth Beer. Jim grew up with four brothers: Sam, Larry, Howard, and Bob.
Jim served in the military as a Marine from 1960-1964. After his service, he worked as a painter for most of his life. He retired from Wichita State University in 2000 and then continued on as a self-employed contract painter.
Jim's first wife was Geneva Malburg, with whom he had one child, Debbie (Beer) McCurry. He later met and married the love of his life, Mary Estill and were married on May 9th, 1974. With this marriage, he gained three more children: DeeDee Estill-Matos (Joe), Dan Estill (Lanette), and LaDawna Hobkirk (David). Jim and Mary shared their love of faith and many years of love and happiness together. They were proud grandparents of 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Howard, and Elizabeth, two of his brothers, Howard and Bob Beer, his nephews Bobby Jr and Jerry Beer, and his loving wife, Mary Beer. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
