Jeremy Robert Schumock, 28, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 23, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him and a lifetime of memories yet to be made. Jeremy was born on June 22, 1998, in Wichita, Kansas, to Rodney and Mary Schumock. A free spirit with a passion for adventure, music, and food, Jeremy lived a life shaped by curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to follow wherever his heart led him.
Jeremy was an aspiring sous chef, a self-made musician, and a recent college graduate who found his way into a variety of unique experiences throughout his life. He had a passion for exploring new places, discovering new opportunities, and pursuing the things that brought him happiness.
Music played a significant role in Jeremy’s life. It was more than a pastime; it was a passion that became part of his journey and connected him to people, experiences, and places along the way. Whether making music himself or helping coordinate a music festival, Jeremy found ways to be part of a world that meant so much to him.
His adventurous spirit led him to experiences few people get to have. Among them was the recent opportunity to work as a chef aboard an Alaskan fishing charter, spending a month at sea. Jeremy embraced opportunities that allowed him to explore his interests, challenge himself, and pour his heart into the things he cared about.
Though Jeremy could be a private person on the outside, those closest to him knew how much pride he took in the adventures he pursued and the life he was building. His family watched from afar as he explored new places, developed his talents, and discovered his own path. They were proud of him, proud of his accomplishments, and, most importantly, proud to see him doing things that brought him happiness.
For the past six years, Jeremy lived away from Kansas, spending much of that time in Iowa. Though distance kept him from his family for much of the year, he returned home for holidays and breaks, maintaining those connections while continuing to pursue his own adventures. He had recently returned to Wichita from Fairfield, Iowa, bringing him closer to home once again.
Jeremy is preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert & Marylin Mackey, of Derby, KS; Nona Mackey, of Wichita, KS; and Richard & Sharon Schumock, of Park City, KS.
Jeremy leaves behind his father, Rodney (Laura) Schumock, of Wichita, KS; his mother, Mary Schumock, of Wichita, KS; his brothers, Quinton (Steffani) Pogue, of Wichita, KS and Joseph Schumock, of Wichita, KS; stepbrother, Matthew (Amanda) Blakesley, of Ulysses, KS; stepsister, Alyssa Hammond, of Ulysses, KS; step grandparents, Keith & Kathy Goff, of Ulysses, KS. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews, Briana, Greyson, Quinn, Beckett, Harper, Piper, and Oaklynn. As well as a large extended family and a wide circle of friends in both Kansas and Iowa who were part of his journey.
Jeremy’s passing was sudden and unexpected, leaving his family and friends struggling to make sense of a loss that came far too soon. He will be remembered for the life he lived on his own terms, the passions he pursued, the places he explored, and the experiences he collected along the way.
Though Jeremy spent much of his adult life exploring the world beyond Kansas, he remained part of the family that loved him and took pride in all he set out to do. His life was uniquely his own, and his memory will live on in the stories, adventures, music, and moments he leaves behind.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, November 21st, 2026, at Le Venue, 109 W Main St, Valley Center, KS 67147. Followed by a light lunch.
